I am sorry for anyone who has to buy their produce or anything here: 1) the prices are severely marked up, and 2) the owner/ elder lady behind the register is mean, disgusting, and rude!

You say good morning/afternoon when you walk up to cash, and she doesn’t acknowledge you. Instead, she watches you like you are here to shoplift, and if you ask for help/questions concerning your purchase, she barely answers.

I asked about my card ( meaning if they have a minimum card charge for debit/cc cards as I’m new to the area). She looked at me and said yes, she accepts EBT. There’s absolutely nothing wrong if someone is using it, but there is something wrong with her as a store owner, the negative disposition she had when referencing EBT, and the attitude copped.

She then tried to hold on to my debit card while paying, insisting she must key in my number, even when I tried to tell her I would rather tap or swipe explicitly.

People like this who treat others with contempt, don’t integrate with the community they are in, and are just plain rude but get rich off the backs of marginalized communities while belonging to a marginalized community themselves never cease to amaze me.

I hope this raggedy store never makes a dollar again (I know this is wishful as the community has limited options)! But I do know I will not even spend a penny there again.

I will also be reporting to the BBB regarding the min 8.00 charge to use the machine!

Their prices are high for no reason and it's only because they know they are the only fruits and vegetables market in the area. It's small and a bit filthy to me and the lady at the register is rude. Have some manners if people are spending their hard earned dollar there.
