We missed our bulk trash pick up by a day and I sent 311 a notice about our missed pick up. Code compliance came the next day and gave us a 24 hr warning to remove or they will fine us $350. On top of that, they threatened to have sanitation come and pick it up after the citation and add on labor charges for picking it up. I tried to tell her I'm doing my best to follow the rules and need some leniency of more than a 24hr notice but she acted all high and mighty with no compassion. Horrible customer service, just out for a cash grab. There's plenty of dilapidated houses and code issues on our street but she decided it's easier to make money off of us with the bulk trash in front. Shameful.

I live in a conservation district. When getting any work done to the outside of your home you must have conservation district approval prior to doing the work and a permit if one is required. I had my roof replaced earlier this year and went through all the approval process from the conservation district and the roofer got a permit before the roof was done.

Two blocks away from me, within the conservation district, a house was being re-roofed and the decking was being replaced in some areas. There is no conservation approval or permit on the City website for that address. There was no permit posted on the house as it should have been. I reported this on the 311 app and it was closed four days later and the resolution is No Violation Found. This is BS! I have been on hold with 311 to find out why there was no code violation. When I called 311, it said that the estimated answer time was 14 to 17 minutes. It has now been 35 minutes and I am still on hold.

This is ridiculous. If it were me, they would be all over me and fine us for no conservation district approval and no permit. Why are these people getting away with it. When I wrote up the 311 app complaint, I supplied a picture of the house with the roof off and I also provided information about the conservation district and permit not showing online at the City site. Why are some of us following the rules and others are just allowed to not follow them?

I live in an Historic Disctict. We who live here must stay within the code compliance for the dictrict. The homes in this area are all around 100 years old. The coed says if we do anything to the outside of the house, it muct pass the city's code compliance. We remodeled our old garage and wanted to put in new aluminum windows. We were told we cand do that. If we replece any thing on the outside of the house it must be ot the same design and material of the original building. We spent a great deal of time and money sticking to the code. This garage cannot even be seen from the street. The house in the area has been under construction for some time. They installed aluminum windows. I see by the update jof the code complience department that they closed the violation and the aluminum are still on the house. So my question is, is code compliance setting
a new standard or doesn't it matter any more. I also wonder if any one in code compliance even reads these reviews.

Code enforcement needs to be fired. They told me they can be doing something else instead of coming out for 24hr parking. Why did you have it on the list if you don't want to do your job? I have not been able to sit my trash out because the people across the street has about 7 cars but they manage to leave a space on their side of the street for their trash to be picked up. Also the car that I complain about the inspection has been out since Feb and he told me he can't have it towed. He put a sticker after 11 days but it's back over here when trash day is coming tomorrow. They have a tow truck the size of a fire truck. He told me if they have it parked he will have it towed. He pick and choose what he want to do. I told him since they not doing nothing I would not complain online. Guess I will have to drive my trash to the dump on Saturday because it's no where to sit your trash can on Gentry Dr. They are quick to write tickets that they can make money on. They can tell you what you can and can't do with your property
but when you complain about something that belongs to them they don't do anything about it. These people get paid to do nothing. Ride around all day with our tax money. Just pitiful.

Like others have expressed, this is a wishful 0 star review.
I've spent months trying to get code compliance AND the city council's office to have the builder correct his unauthorized use of our shared easement, in which he decided he could pave and make use of it all, including an 8ft by 51ft section of MY private property and without MY permission! New Vision land and properties didnt even get a permit/city permission when it was done, which he couldn't get special use without owning it all- and he doesn't! When they encroached my property, paved it (which we are not to do since its for city use-utilities primarily), the pavement was either ignored when it was inspected or they did it afterwards, they covered up my water meter / cut-off and my sewer clean out. The builder would, after a month of arguing with him, correct the sewer issue but didn't have the water meter/main cut-off returned to its original status. I had a leak and was unable to shut off the water so i called the water department to cut it off but somehow, while i was off to home depot for supplies and would discover on my return, the builder would have them replace and turn the water right back on (to leak further). The meter that New Vision Land and Properties covered/damaged, would need replacing, builer stated to me, " hey, they've found it and your getting a whole new meter." "Are you going to charge the reasonable party, you should?", i said. The builder replies (at the time i thought it was the city worker and didn't realize it was the builder until i hung up and noticed the number and located our text feed), "no charge, compliments of the city!". I guess that's why they raised my property taxes over 400% within 2 years. Dallas is a banana republic!
Sadly, despite the so-called code compliance manager that the city councils office sent out to investigate and assist me in regaining my property and my use which was in accordance with city statute/code. Its been 6 months and they have not inforced their notice of violation. The shared easement take over and code compliance, including management who called to tell me that the builder was sent a notice and was given 10days to correct it, addressing a violation resulting in the theft of another's property must not be as important as taking away the belongings of the homeless, sending violations to me for 'city' property (they don't check ownership?), sending warnings/violations for grass/weed over growth following several heavy rains, or taking naps! Its back to me- making more unanswered calls and leaving voice mails that seem to be ignored- even from my city councils office, Jesse Moreno.
I would like to give 5 stars for those working in animal services. They are busy, short staffed, but manage to accomplish so much. They make a difference!

I hate Code Enforcement. They don't do their job. This so called mechanic park cars all on the street, non working of course. I can't even see how to get out of my driveway. Code enforcement does nothing, there's no need to even have code enforcement in Dallas, Texas.
