This review is for a tooth extraction I had with Dr Mitchell. The extraction went fine, with no complications. What stood out to me was the hygiene protocol Dr Mitchell followed. If you are hygiene fanatic, you will not be disappointed. Out of dozens dental offices I’ve been to, this is only second office where the doctor had his assistant help him put on the gloves prior to starting surgery. The gloves were laid out with the rest of the surgical instruments on the little table. No pulling gloves out of the box with fingers, thus contaminating the glove surface. No grabbing the light to adjust its angle or twisting the chair knobs after the gloves were put on. This should be standard in all dental offices, but unfortunately its not. Hence the five star rating. I saw some negative reviews disliking Dr. Mitchell's "people skills." One has to ask what is most important to you in a surgeon - his/her competence and excellence of practice or ability to smooth talk? Dr. Mitchell falls in the first category. The office billing procedures' are a bit archaic in that the insurance benefits are not completely determined prior to the appointment. In my case I paid a part of the cost that was covered by my insurance on the day of the extraction and received a refund later. The important part, in any case, is that the billing was reconciled correctly, which I cannot say about several other dental offices I have dealt with recently.

Recently received a diagnosis of throat cancer and an immediate need for oral surgery in order to begin chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The VA sent me to John Mitchell and I was blown away with the service today.
Everyone I interacted with here was very kind and helpful. From the phone call setting up the appointment (Catherine) to John himself was absolutely professional and supportive of my situation.
The procedure which I was really stressed out about was extremely painless and quick. Afterwards they ensured I was okay to release home with knowledge of the aftercare.
I will likely need similar dental work in the future-John, his colleagues and staff have earned my complete trust in the future. Thank you for the wonderful service!

I have had doctor Mitchell for 2 separate surgeries. In. 2008 I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. In 2017 I had to have a tooth removed due to reabsorption and the easy choice was to have Dr. Mitchell remove it. Neither time do I remember the surgery or pain from it. Not to mention he is a very compassionate and friendly doctor. Recently my mom had the same issue with a tooth resulting in reabsorption. Of course the right choice to remove the tooth was to have Dr Mitchell remove her tooth, she said to me she feels no pain and truly Dr. Mitchell is a compassionate and professional kind doctor. I truly recommend him to anybody who needs a professional doctor!

Regret going here instead of Sandia Oral. Had a phrenulectomy done by Dr. Mitchell. Extremely difficult procedure with local anesthesia only..Dr. Mitchell said I didnt need general. And oh gosh, this is NOT a procedure to do under local anesthesia!! Took 52min, felt the 'sawing' aspect of ALL the cutting even though numb. At least seven sutures/stitches in gum and upper inner lip, still bleeding afterwards. Was shocked how painful and invasive this procedure was, this was not explained to me beforehand by Dr. Mitchell. He refused to give pain meds even though he had done so with previous extractions and i have no history of addiction problems. I cannot take ibuprofen, he knew this. This experience felt very inhumane. His assistant and the office staff ignored my repeated request for pain management. Office staff looked the other way. Very cold, uncaring Dr., assistant, and staff. Am still dumbfounded that this happened. Pursuing legal action. Dr. Mitchell's work, and his behavior, was truly a nightmare.

I went to see Dr Mitchell for a dental procedure and requested anesthesia. The experience was all I could have hoped for. Not only did I not feel any pain I had no recall of the procedure and left feeling fine. I highly recommend going to see Dr. Mitchell for situations calling for the use of anesthesia. While I hope that I never have the need to go back to Dr. Mitchell, I know who to go to if the need arises.

Very nasty doctor..maybe he was having a bad day but he treated my boy horrible.
His facial expression were like if he was mad at my son for having a meltdown at his office. Before the evaluation appt was set up I asked if they had experience with special needs and they said yes. Nurses were great; just not him.

This guy is so arrogant. We have a family history of nausea from anesthesia and this doctor refused to take our concerns seriously. Doctors that think they know everything are so dangerous. He is a cookie cutter doctor trying to get his patients to fit his mold rather than working with individual needs. We walked out and refused to schedule the surgery. I wouldn’t recommend anyone see this guy.
