Poor service, dont need to get into the details. I guess this is what happens sometimes when an owner who starts a business then gives it to his son or whom ever and that person is not a leader and has contempt for his customers. Hwy C treat customers like dirt. Was a great place to work with at one time but not anymore.

Purchased new Toro 22” walk behind mower in May 22. Was supposed to be a Guaranteed to start Briggs motor. Half way through the 23 season it won’t start. I took it back to Hwy C and they told me it was bad gas and charged me $75.00 to get it running. I guess the guaranteed to start only applies if it is a manufacturer defect! I have 5 other machines that run on the same gas that I put in the toro and they all start and run fine.
I called toro customer service and got the same run around that I got at Hwy C. I guess a guarantee isn’t as good as it used to be and is only as good as the dealer that is in charge of honoring that warranty. I guess I will just chalk this up to a $550.00 mistake. Or maybe someone there will have to time to call me a do the right thing and help me in stead of saying that he was too busy to talk to me about it. Or the person I need to talk to is not there today.

After many rings, they answer the phone "hello". Very unprofessional. They transferred me to parts and it rang forever. Then they just put it on hold without saying anything. They never did answer the call.
I called back and got to a very rude parts guy. I told him I was looking for a mower deck belt and gave him the measurements. He asked what manufacturer it was for (which absolutely doesn't matter because the belt dimensions are what they are). He didn't like the it was going on a Craftsman, because he doesn't sell that manufacturer tractors.

They are truly unprofessional and rude. Avoid the aggravation and go to a better business.

I bought a used but still under warranty JD lawn tractor. Michael was the salesman, and Paul helped me learn the machine. The price was fair, their communication on warranty was clear. Hands down the best mower I have ever owned. Excellent buying experience. Thanks!

Right now, Stihl has a deal on its MS 271 Farm Boss w/20” bar. If you buy the saw for $499 you get a carrying case, another chain and a Stihl cap, a $109 value, at no extra charge. I had a coupon for $20 off $100 or more at Ace. I’ve nothing against Ace, but I thought I’d stop by HWY C and ask if they’d give me the $20 off the saw. I wanted to buy from them because of their service department. I asked the guy that waited on me if he’d give me the $20 off and he said no. I bought a Bearcat chipper/shredder from them a few years back and wanted to buy there again. Clearly they have more business than they can effectively deal with. When you call it’s a real hit n’ miss. Maybe they answer, maybe they don’t, maybe you get someone who seems happy to help, maybe you don’t. It’s not like I was asking for the moon and stars. Guy that waited on me had the personality of a bent trashcan. I spent over 20 years in the USN and another 18 in the service department at a huge marine dealership in Winthrop Harbor. I know lousy customer service when I see it. Just not a warm and fuzzy reception, so I spent my $500 elsewhere and will probably not go back. They have a very nice showroom and lots of nice high-end riding/zero turn mowers. The turn off for me wasn't that he said no, it was the way he shut it down without another word. No sales expertise, no trying sell me on his saw, no offer of anything, just, no. If you’re in the market for a new Stihl MS-271 chain saw and you’d like to take advantage of the same offer, my advice would be for you to stop in at Ace Hardware on Grand Avenue in Gurnee and speak with their store manager Kathy. Very accommodating and I was happy to spend my $500+ at their store.
If you buy from Hwy C Service, you might be happy, you might not. I guess they’re ok, but for me, no.

I brought my Ariens deluxe snowblower to them a valve was bad. They covered the warranty for me because my warranty expired two months prior. They covered everything . Service is outstanding I buy everything from them. I bought my leaf blower, Stihl 800 magnum CE blower backpack , I bought my John Deere tractor R345 , Ariens deluxe snowblower. I love it. I buy everything from them , services is outstanding , ANDY is the best !!! contact ANDY , you won’t regret it.

After an employee made us aware that this business was inflating the price on the repair bill on my bobcat. And we spent over $2,000 I was left with a bobcat worst then it went in. The owner happens to racially attract its clients and not try to slice problems by escalating the problem in front of other customers. The solution from him was to sue them ….. absolutely terrible.
